Witness this, the dawn of nouveau duck.” Futurists and economists point to past references to the potential rise of new duck. The media picks up on the story of how this is new duck and new manner of ducks henceforth. We believe it for there is substantial opportunity in new duck. Duck prices go crazy. Observers are then shocked and bewildered when the duck inevitably dispenses with distractions and V-shapes his way south. The duck might be wearing a hat, but it’s still a duck.

One of our focus areas of investing at Verdex Capital is also one of the oldest areas of Ag Tech: Crop Genetics. For centuries, farmers used selective breeding to grow plants and crops with desirable traits. This could have been done for different purposes: better survival rates, better taste, or even to create ‘new’ subspecies of plants like that of the wild cabbage family.
